La Casona de San Miguel, en la esquina sur-occidental de la plaza, cuya última restauración fue en 1926, está incluida en la Lista de Propiedades Patrimonio de la ciudad de Quito. Los interiores de sus tres plantas están bellamente decorados, con un sentido de lujo so? sticado. El estilo es ecléctico y visualmente muy atractivo, una mezcla de Art Nouveau con diseño contemporáneo. La atención al detalle durante la restauración ha sido excepcional, manteniendo casi todas las características arquitectónicas originales de la casa. Éstas incluyen sus altas y elegantes ventanas, con una vista fantástica ya sea hacia El Panecillo, la plaza o el acogedor y característico patio interior. La restauración incluyó el reforzamiento de la mansión desde sus cimientos, para que puede durar varios siglos más.
